Committee/Volunteer Information

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

The Festival of the Bonfires Committee is looking for volunteers to help with festival plans as well as manpower during the festival. Even a couple of hours of your time over the weekend would be greatly appreciated. If you would like to join our team, contact a committee member or watch the local paper for meeting times. To volunteer, call Jamie Vicknair from our contact page or sign up at the St. James Parish Welcome Center

INFORMATION

The Festival of the Bonfires, Inc. is a volunteer, non-profit organization established in 1990. The purpose of the organization is to conduct the Festival of the Bonfires annually; encourage the preservation of the bonfires in the River Parishes; encourage tourism; encourage public awareness of the bonfire tradition; promote economic development of small businesses in St. James Parish, encourage cooperation with other organizations having similar purposes and interests; and to add beautification of the incorporated towns of Lutcher & Gramercy and the rest of St. James Parish.

FACT

The Festival of the Bonfires Committee is responsible for the $2 million of insurance coverage needed for the burning of the Christmas Eve bonfires to continue. This insurance covers both St. James and St. John the Baptist Parishes! The committee is proud to be able to keep this unique tradition alive for all to enjoy! Please support the festival and come back and see the spectacular display on December 24!
